Taking Home More Than Memories: WNC’s U-Pick Farms
Escaping to the mountains of Western North Carolina often brings to mind waterfalls, hiking trails, mountain biking, charming mountain towns, breweries, and our famous apple orchards. But did you know our local U-pick farms begin opening in mid-July as peaches ripen and blackberry season begins?

We look forward to visiting these local farms every summer and fall, filling baskets with fresh fruit and bringing home beautiful bouquets from the flower fields. It’s one of our favorite ways to slow down, enjoy another side of the mountains, and take home a few delicious souvenirs along the way.
Agriculture has been a special part of our region for generations. Thanks to our mild climate, abundant rainfall, rich mountain soils, and warm days paired with cool mountain nights, this area provides ideal growing conditions for an incredible variety of fruits and flowers.
In fact, neighboring Henderson County is one of the largest apple-producing regions in the Southeast, and throughout the growing season you’ll find orchards and family farms bursting with fresh, flavorful produce and colorful flower fields.
Having our own small garden here at Pisgah Forest RV Park has given us a whole new appreciation for the care, patience, and hard work that goes into growing healthy crops. It has also made us appreciate our local farmers even more—and just how effortless they somehow make it all look.
Whether you’re looking for a relaxing morning, a fun family outing, or simply a break from the trails, visiting one of our local farms is an experience we highly recommend.
Our Favorite U-Pick Farm: Jeter Mountain Farm
If we had to recommend one U-pick experience to our guests, it would be Jeter Mountain Farm.

Located just a short drive from Pisgah Forest RV Park, it’s much more than an orchard—it’s truly a destination.
One of our favorite parts of every visit is climbing aboard the tractor-pulled wagon for the ride into the orchards. As you make your way across the rolling hills, you’re surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery before arriving at rows of fruit trees, berry patches, or vibrant flower fields, depending on the season. It’s hard not to smile as the mountain breeze rolls through the orchards and the views stretch across the countryside.
And once you’ve finished picking, the fun doesn’t stop.
You’ll find a charming farm market filled with local products, homemade treats, fresh baked goods, and unique gifts. Their fresh apple cider donuts have become legendary for good reason, and it’s nearly impossible to leave without stopping for a scoop (or two) of homemade ice cream. If you’re ready for lunch, the on-site BBQ food truck is another favorite. Families will also appreciate the large playground, making it easy to spend several hours enjoying everything the farm has to offer.
Every year they seem to add something new, which keeps us coming back season after season.
What’s in Season?
One of the best parts about visiting our local farms is that every season offers something a little different.
Local Tip: New for 2026, Jeter Mountain Farm now offers optional U-pick reservations. While reservations aren’t required, we recommend making one during peak weekends to help minimize wait times.

Supporting Local Farmers

One of the things we love most about owning Pisgah Forest RV Park is being able to share the places that make Western North Carolina so special.
What makes this region unique is the incredible variety of experiences waiting just minutes apart. One day might be spent riding world-class mountain bike trails, hiking to a waterfall, or exploring the forests of Pisgah. The next could be strolling through downtown Brevard, enjoying a sunset drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, or filling a basket with peaches, apples, or blackberries that become tonight’s dessert or tomorrow’s trail snack.
We also love supporting local businesses whenever we can. Whether it’s featuring local wines during our Wine Down Wednesday gatherings, serving pastries from a neighborhood bakery at our Saturday Morning Social, offering locally raised farm-fresh eggs in our Welcome Center, or spending an afternoon at one of our area’s family farms, we believe these small businesses are the heart of our community.
We hope you’ll take some time during your stay to experience them for yourself. The mountains are full of unforgettable adventures, beauty and flavors. And we can’t wait for you to experience it all!
