Adventure Dining

Where Great Food Meets the Great Outdoors

When you think of Brevard and Western North Carolina, outdoor adventures probably come to mind first. With hundreds of waterfalls, incredible hiking and biking trails, and breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountain views, there’s no shortage of reasons to get outside and explore.

But there’s another side of our mountain community worth discovering — the food!

We’re fortunate to have so many wonderful local restaurants, breweries, and unique dining experiences. And some offer something extra special: the opportunity to pair a great meal with an outdoor adventure.

So, whether you’re starting your morning with mountain views, refueling after a bike ride, or winding down beside a waterfall, here are three ways to make dining part of your next adventure!

Breakfast with a View — Pisgah Inn

The Adventure: Blue Ridge Mountain Views

The Dining: Pisgah Inn Restaurant

Imagine starting your morning with breakfast overlooking miles of rolling Blue Ridge Mountains. That’s exactly the experience waiting for you at the Pisgah Inn!

Perched high along the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Pisgah Inn is known for its spectacular panoramic mountain views. The restaurant features large windows overlooking the mountains, and the outdoor observation deck offers another opportunity to take in the scenery.

With breakfast, lunch, and dinner served daily during its operating season, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy a meal with a view. And with the Blue Ridge Parkway right outside, you can easily turn your visit into a scenic mountain adventure.

Adventure Tip: The Pisgah Inn is open seasonally from April through October, and dining reservations are highly recommended, especially during the busy fall season. Reservations open 14 days in advance, so plan ahead!

Lunch on Two Wheels — Ecusta Market & Café

The Adventure: Biking the Ecusta Trail

The Dining: Ecusta Market & Café

There’s a new adventure taking shape in Western North Carolina, and it’s one we’re particularly excited about!

The Ecusta Trail is transforming a former railroad corridor into a scenic, paved greenway connecting Hendersonville and Brevard. The first six miles are already open, stretching from Horse Shoe to downtown Hendersonville and offering a wonderful opportunity to explore the area on two wheels.

The trail winds through beautiful countryside, alongside creeks, wooded areas, and open fields. With its relatively flat terrain and wide, paved surface, it’s a great option for cyclists of varying abilities looking for a more leisurely ride.

And what better way to enjoy a bike ride than with a delicious lunch along the way?

Make a stop at Ecusta Market & Café, located right along the trail near Hendersonville. This welcoming café is a great place to refuel with a tasty meal, coffee, or a refreshing beverage before continuing your adventure. It’s a stop we’ve enjoyed ourselves!

And here’s what has us especially excited: When the entire Ecusta Trail is completed, it will stretch approximately 19 miles between downtown Hendersonville and Brevard, passing right by Pisgah Forest RV Park! That means our guests will eventually be able to access this incredible trail directly from our park, opening up even more opportunities to explore the area by bike or on foot.

We can’t wait for that day!

Adventure Tip: Ready to ride? Start at the Horse Shoe end of the Ecusta Trail, just a short drive from Pisgah Forest RV Park. Parking is available in the gravel lot next to Packa’s Place (4210 Brevard Road, Horse Shoe, NC), directly across from Root & Bone. There is a parking fee, payable by scanning the posted QR code. From here, enjoy a scenic ride toward Hendersonville, stopping at Ecusta Market & Café for a delicious lunch before heading back. The full ride is approximately 12 miles round-trip, but you can always turn around sooner for a shorter adventure!

Dinner by the Falls — The Pavilion at Key Falls Inn

The Adventure: Key Falls Waterfall

The Dining: The Pavilion Restaurant & Corner Bar

After a day exploring the mountains, there’s something wonderful about slowing down and enjoying a peaceful dinner surrounded by nature. And that’s exactly why we love The Pavilion at Key Falls Inn.

Tucked away on a beautiful property just outside Brevard, The Pavilion offers a unique open-air dining experience beside a gently flowing creek. The sound of the water, the surrounding trees, and the relaxed atmosphere make this one of our favorite places to unwind.

The food is delicious, but what really makes dining here special is the experience itself. This is a place to settle in, take your time, and savor the evening. The laid-back atmosphere encourages you to slow down and enjoy the surroundings rather than rush through dinner.

But there’s another reason this destination belongs on our Adventure Dining list! The property is also home to Key Falls, a beautiful waterfall tucked into the surrounding landscape.

A visit to the falls followed by a leisurely dinner beside the creek makes for a wonderful combination of adventure and relaxation.

Adventure Tip: Make this an unhurried evening and allow plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings. Dinner reservations are recommended.
